The centerpiece hardware announcement is the eighth-generation Tensor Processing Unit, which Google claims delivers superior performance per dollar compared to Nvidia's H200 for large-model inference workloads. If the benchmark claims hold up under independent validation, the TPU v8 would mark the first time Google's proprietary AI silicon has been able to make a credible cost-performance argument against Nvidia's dominant datacenter GPU lineup for mainstream model deployment — a strategic development that would materially change Google Cloud's competitive position in the enterprise AI infrastructure market.

The TPU v8: What Google Claims and What It Means
