ChatGPT Adds DoorDash, Uber, Spotify, Canva, and More — OpenAI Is Building a Consumer Super-App

OpenAI has launched third-party app integrations inside ChatGPT, allowing users to order food, book rides, manage music, design graphics, and plan travel without leaving the chat interface. The move signals a deliberate strategic shift: ChatGPT is no longer just an AI assistant — it is becoming a consumer platform that aggregates services.

ChatGPT Adds DoorDash, Uber, Spotify, Canva, and More — OpenAI Is Building a Consumer Super-App

OpenAI has launched integrations with a significant roster of consumer and productivity platforms directly inside ChatGPT. Users can now interact with DoorDash, Uber, Spotify, Canva, Figma, Expedia, and a growing list of additional services through the ChatGPT interface — ordering food, booking rides, managing playlists, designing graphics, and planning trips without switching applications. The feature set amounts to a meaningful platform expansion for OpenAI.

What the Integrations Do

The practical implication is that ChatGPT can now act on behalf of users in real systems rather than simply responding with text. A user can ask ChatGPT to order their usual DoorDash lunch, build a Spotify playlist for a specific mood, create a Canva graphic for a social post, or book an Uber to an address — and the action executes rather than returning instructions for how to do it manually. The integrations connect ChatGPT's reasoning layer to the transactional and creative capabilities of the integrated services.

The Platform Strategy Behind the Feature

OpenAI has been building toward this. The plugin ecosystem introduced earlier in ChatGPT's lifecycle was a first attempt at platform expansion; the new integrations represent a more curated, more capable version of the same ambition. The company is positioning ChatGPT as the interface layer that users interact with first — with downstream services executing in response.

This is the super-app model that has dominated in Asian markets for a decade (WeChat being the canonical example) and that Western tech companies have repeatedly failed to build. OpenAI has an unusual opening to attempt it: ChatGPT's conversational interface removes the friction that has killed previous Western super-app attempts, where aggregating multiple services into a single app felt forced rather than natural.

Competitive Implications

The integrations put pressure on Apple, Google, and Microsoft, all of which are building their own AI-native interfaces. Apple Intelligence, Google's AI Overviews and Gemini integration into Android, and Microsoft's Copilot are all competing for the same position: the AI layer that users turn to first. ChatGPT's consumer brand is currently the strongest in this race. Third-party service integrations deepen the lock-in and make switching costs tangible.
